Film evening and discussion about the video artist Nam June Paik: Elke Gruhn in conversation with Maria Anna Tappeiner and Jochen Saueracker

Nam June Paik’s time in North Rhine-Westphalia had a lasting influence on him. Anna Maria Tappeiner’s film portrait of the artist Paik was shown, in which Paik’s hitherto largely ignored wife, Shigeku Kubota, is also included.  Following this filmic introduction, Elke Gruhn, artistic director of the Nassauischer Kunstverein (Wiesbaden), spoke with Tappeiner and the artist Jochen Saueracker, Paik’s former assistant, about probably the most important Korean artist of the 20th century.

Talk with the collector Robert Rademacher, long-time chairman of the Friends of the NRW Art Collection

Robert Rademacher, long-time chairman of the Friends of the North Rhine-Westphalia Art Collection, has had a strong influence on the Düsseldorf art scene. He was a guest at the Galerie Paffrath on February 19th and in his talk with Detmar Westhoff, he painted a very lively and vivid picture of his contributions to the museum landscape in Düsseldorf, which also includes the expansion of the K20 building on Grabbeplatz.

Jasmin Hartmann (Head of the Coordination Office for Provenance Research in NRW), Isabel von Klitzing (Art historian & Lawyer), Dr. Jens Stöcker (Director Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte, Dortmund) and Peter Wehrle (Managing Director of Ketterer Kunst, Munich) discuss current developments of provenance research from the perspective of museums, the art market and private individuals. Global Voices of Art – Tokyo

Global Voices of Art – Istanbul

The first talk of „Global voices of art“ dedicated to special art locations worldwide presented the Istanbul art scene with special guest Ekrem Yalcindag, one of the best-known contemporary Turkish artists from Istanbul. In this talk with Detmar Westhoff he reported on the art city of Istanbul and explained the reasons for its ongoing success.

The director of Staatsgalerie Stutgart Prof. Dr. Christiane Lange held a lecture on “From the street into the museum. One year Banksy at the Staatsgalerie”, followed by a talk with her, Klaus Klinger (street artist and director of the “40 Degree Urban Art Festival”) and Selim Varol (Urban Art collector), hosted by C. F. Schröer (art journalist).
